Gracie and her baby doll... Joel is excited to be turning three on "twenty March!"
Joel wrote his name for the first time!
(He said he wanted the top of the "J" to look like mountains...
just like Pike's Peak!)
Joel loves to help in the kitchen. Here he is making lunch with mom!

Making Up for Lost Time

Where Did January Go?
It's been a little while since my last post, but I'm back! Apparently, we have a few blog addicts on our hands because I have had several people wondering what has been going on with my lack of updates!!
Not a lot of new news to report. We've had a great Christmas and New Year and are looking forward to Gracie's birthday. Here is a short video of Joel praying at the lunch table...
Joel has been making us laugh so much lately. Even when he's praying he's got a lot to say! As you can tell from the video, we had a recent discussion on the things that God made. We talked about trees and flowers, the sun and moon, the oceans and sky. Then I asked him what his favorite thing that God made was.
He said, "I think donuts." Fantastic.
Now, he points out everything to me... "Mom, God made that road sign...Mom, God made that fence."
Curt and I always laugh because when Joel is talking about anything that happened in the past...whether it was last night or two months ago...he says it was "yesterday." (When he was talking about Nonie & Pop Pop & Cate & Emmy coming to visit "yesterday" he was talking about their visit in OCTOBER!).
Grace is doing great. We can't believe that she will be ONE in a few weeks. Time really does fly. She is busy cruising around on all fours and she'll walk along the furniture, but no steps yet. Of course, why walk when someone will carry you wherever you go?? She is such a sweet baby and such a cuddler, we can't help but pick her up! She is starting to say more words. She'll point to the flowers on my shower curtain and say "pretty" and she loves her "baby." It's amazing how different boys and girls are. Joel never used to kiss and cuddle his animals!
Gracie is definitely a mommy's girl, but she sure does love her dad. Her new favorite object is a fluffy bunny that Curt made for her at Build-A-Bear. It has a button in it's foot that plays Curt's voice saying, "Daddy loves Gracie!" She loves it!
JOEL-ISMS...
"Mom, I have a big, brown deuce in my diaper." (As far as I'm concerned...anyone who can articulate that is MORE than ready for potty training and big boy underwear!)
"Mom, you can't say 'just because!'" (He says this when he asks me why he can't do/say/have something and I answer, "Just because.")
I had just gotten out of the shower, and I noticed that it was unusually quiet in the house. I called to Joel. When he came into my room I asked him what he was doing. He responded, "I'm just growing up."
